Emergency Medicine

General Information

    1. You will receive an email a couple of months in advance regarding rotation expectations and special shift requests from the EM Chiefs

    2. Report 10 mins prior to shift to the B Pod.  Attire: scrubs.

    3. Pick up ~1-2 pt/hr depending on accuity

    4. See pt and present to attending

    5. Order tests/meds

    6. Call consults/admit if appropriate

    7. Notes - there is a template you should use, ask for this 

    8. Discharge - there are two parts to this → discharge paperwork/scripts (print) and discharge order

    9. Communicate with nurse (BE NICE)

    10. FYI you can park in the attached garage on weekends and shifts starting after 3pm 

    11. Bring food/snacks - you’ll likely be eating at your desk when you find time
