Welcome to Pediatric Anesthesia at UH Rainbow Children’s Hospital

Department Chief: Dr. Ohliger (cardiac)
Attendings: Dr. Berkelhamer, Dr. Frazee, Dr. Cuko, Dr. Al Haddadin (cardiac), Dr. Goldfinger
Location: Prentiss OR - located next to the MacDonald Women’s Hospital on the 2nd floor
On the first day of the rotation: Look up your patients and contact your attending the night before as you would normally do. Set up your OR in the morning at the Prentiss OR.

Important!
Pick up pediatric handbook card from Dr. Al Haddadin or Dr. Berkelhamer PRIOR to your rotation start.


Helpful tips

  • Always have Succinylcholine, Atropine, and Epinephrine TD syringes and medications for emergency

  • 10mL syringe for Propofol typically for babies and toddlers
    Rarely use Succinylcholine for induction - read about Succinylcholine use in children

  • Use TB syringes for most of the medications for babies and toddlers
